Ease Arthritis With Omega 3

omega 3s help with arthritis

When you think of managing arthritis, your first thoughts are probably not food and nutrition. However, you may be missing out on a powerful remedy. Scientists are learning more about the foods that can help reduce the inflammation and pain that comes with arthritis. A recent meta-analysis found that consuming omega-3 fatty acids reduced the arthritis symptoms of early morning stiffness and joint tenderness. The subjects in the studies got their omega-3s through both food and supplement form and followed these guidelines for more than three months to see an improvement.

Omega-3s have benefits beyond arthritis pain. Consuming a diet high in omega-3 lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease, helps fight inflammation and improves brain health. Regardless of whether you are dealing with arthritis, make sure you include omega-3s in your diet or by taking a supplement.

Dietary sources of omega-3 include fatty fish (salmon, mackerel and herring), walnuts and walnut oil, chia seeds, flax seeds and hemp seeds. You can also increase your omega-3 intake by taking a fish oil supplement.
