4 Easy Travel Exercise Tips

Suitcase in hotel room, Hotel, Hotel Room, Suitcase, Luggage, Bed. Working travel lifestyle.

When you travel a lot, it is hard to fit in a workout. Not all places have a gym, or they have limited working equipment, or they’re closed. Sometimes we just want to stay in our room and chill. These four easy tips will help you fit in a quick workout that will allow you to stay in your room, so that you can enjoy the local grub without the guilt.

Make Your Hotel Room Your Gym

Sometimes carrying around all of your stuff is a workout in itself. Utilize that weight to increase resistance and make your own workout. A strong bag that is heavy from packing can make a perfect kettlebell. I use my AWAY Everywhere Bag because it can handle my packrat ways. Plus, it’s perfect to use as a kettlebell for a quick and efficient workout in my room. Kettlebell workouts are like an easy way to do HIIT, cardio, or a full-body workout to increase strength, balance and endurance.

Access Free Online Fitness Streaming

Most major hotel chains offer free online streaming in your room with Smart TVs. YouTube is a great place to find all sorts of workouts. Chloe Ting and Gilad are my go-to when I am short on time and want to stay in my room. EVEN Hotels have gone a step further and actually have their own streaming workouts that are tailored to your level and all of the equipment you need is right there in your room. They are nationwide and are awesome.

Must Haves to Pack

When my regular routine on the road needs a little more oomph, I use resistance bands and adjustable body weights. They are easy to pack in my carry-on and add a new level of challenge my body needs to get better results when I am traveling. These are the Best Resistance Bands and Adjustable Ankle Wrist Arm Leg Weights that don’t take up much room in your bag or suitcase. For my favorite squat challenge workouts, these Booty Bands are a simple way to increase resistance when I am away from home. You can also incorporate all of them into your everyday workout without having to leave your hotel room. If you’re hurting from a workout or sitting all day from traveling, a travel-sized foam roller is a great way to gain relief from sore muscles.

Access Local Deals

Have you ever wanted to take a new kind of fitness class but it wasn’t available in your area? When you are traveling, a local yoga studio, spin class, Crossfit or HIIT type of fitness class like Orange Theory, offer introductory discounts or are even free for your initial visit. This is a great way to try something new while keeping a level of anonymity. They say variety is the spice of life, try a 3-day challenge by taking 3 new classes offered locally in the area you are staying. Ask the front desk when you check in about any partnerships with fitness clubs in the area or look online for local schedules and deals.
