The Gift of Good Health

Healthy cookbooks for gifts

Are you struggling to think of gifts or stocking stuffers for your loved ones this holiday season? Well, the best gift of all is the gift of good health. To that end, purchase thoughtful cookbooks that empower readers to try cooking healthy meals at home. Learning how to cook delicious meals is one of the best ways to support long-term health goals.

A study in 2015 found that cooking dinner at home is associated with consuming a healthier diet − one that includes fewer calories, fat and sugar. This was found regardless of whether the individual cooking or eating the home cooked food was trying to lose weight. Despite this association, Americans are spending more money eating out at restaurants and bars than on groceries. We are not eating at home as much and, therefore, are not reaping the health benefits of home cooked meals.

It’s time to get back in the kitchen! With the holidays approaching, now is the time to experiment. Why not try some new healthy recipes? Buying fun, creative and healthy cookbooks is a great gift for others (or yourself). When you and your loved ones try and share the recipes, hopefully, you will be more inclined to eat healthy home-cooked meals more often.

These are some of our favorite cookbooks. Do you have any favorites? If so, comment below so we can check them out.
